Data sources
Where the financial data comes from
The monitor only calculates company metrics from normalized quarterly fundamentals that meet its validation requirements.
Primary financial-data source
Financial Modeling Prep (FMP) is the primary provider for quarterly cash-flow and balance-sheet statements. The monitor requests normalized operating cash flow, capital expenditure, free cash flow, cash and cash equivalents, short-term investments, total debt, total stockholders’ equity, date, and period.
Fallback sources
For selected configured symbols, Alpha Vantage and SEC CompanyFacts are secondary providers when FMP cannot supply usable data. Their reported data is normalized into the same fundamentals contract before the existing CROIC calculation is applied.
- Provider fallbacks never change the CROIC formula.
- A company remains Data pending when the provider data cannot produce at least eight matching quarterly periods with every required field.
Caching and last verified snapshots
Successful company results use server-side Next.js caching with a 12-hour revalidation period. Where configured seed data exists, a temporary FMP failure can return a clearly labeled Last verified snapshot instead of an unavailable result. Fresh valid results replace the snapshot.
Data may be delayed or corrected by the underlying provider or issuer. A timestamp shows when each returned result was last updated.
